A Papercrafting Success!
A couple of weeks ago, Mum showed me how to make lovely gift tags with simple paper layering techniques, and during the week I had a go at it myself - with great results! I know that they are not at all complicated but it's a first for me and I intend to try and make a few more fancy ones. I used the free papers that you get with various magazines - I have always kept them, knowing that they would come in handy one day. So here are the results.
A couple of Christmas ones....
And a few birthday ones....
And not a week can pass without some cake making - this week, I tried a Nigella recipe that I've not come across before. They were Banana Butterscotch Muffins ( the recipe can be found here http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/banana-and-butterscotch-muffins-84), though I substituted the butterscotch for chocolate chips (because I had some). They were delicious, and a great way to use up bananas that are past there best.
It's such a shame that the weather has taken a turn for the worse but there is a plus side - you don't have to feel guilty about staying in and crafting if its cold and rainy outside!
Join me over at Handmade Monday to catch up on all the crafting that's been going on this week.
Love Natalie

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, will be giving these a go! Plus going to check out the recipe as I've got quite a few bananas that need eating!
ReplyDeleteI really like the fact that they are on brown 'background' and are not all sparkly. very effective. You are right to feel proud of them.
ReplyDeleteThose tags look very professional and will look very stylish attached to a present :)
ReplyDeleteVery handcrafted and fashionable looking - very good if you are new to it! I have loads of those papers too - I never use them all up and always buy more mags so the pile just grows!
ReplyDeleteI do like your Christmas tags. Love the light blue, and the nice brown background.
ReplyDeleteOooh love those tags! Such a great way to make a pressie extra special.
ReplyDeleteYour banana muffins look yum too, chocolate and banana are such a delicious combo :) x
Lovely tags!
ReplyDeleteWish I could have one of those muffins, they look very good :) (wonder if gluten free flour would work at not make them like rock cakes!)
They are so pretty and I love using the freebies we get with magazines. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteYour tags are a great use of freebies, I love a bargain.
ReplyDeleteI also love your cakes, banana bread is one of my favourite things so I'll certainly be popping over to try out this recipe.
I freeze banana's if they've gone past their best but I'm not ready to bake. I take the skin off and put the fruit in a freezer bag until I need it.

I've never heard of freezing bananas before, I might try that!
DeleteHello BFF! These look lovely, I shall expect to have one on each of my presents this year LOL! The cakes look scrummy too, when we are off our "not eating processed food" diets can you please make me some!!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous tags. Are they hard to make? I'd love to do some of my own as I'm fed up with bought ones. However I've never really worked with paper before xx
ReplyDeleteI bought some brown parcel labels and Mum gave me a little sticking gizmo that you run over the label and it leaves a line of glue. Then......I tell you what, I'll do a little tutorial next week! Get me, sounding like I know what I'm talking about!
DeleteBeautiful tags, so simple yet effective x

ReplyDeleteYour gift tags turned out nice. I'm sure you'll find them very useful and would give an extra something special to the gift.
ReplyDeleteI love the tags. I want to make more of my own tags for selling my crafts, and I've got loads of free craft papers from mags, so thanks for the tip.

Lovely tags, and a great way to use freebie papers. Sometimes simpler designs can be more or as effective than complex ones too.
